My Kiwiana Christmas wrapping paper

This is my Kiwiana wrapping paper for the Christmas countdown whetu is doing until the last day of school which is tomorrow sadly. I put all the things I could think of for my wrapping paper even though I had more things in my mind I couldn't fit it on to my wrapping paper design. I made this wrapping paper by searching up a bunch of kiwi things than making them cartoon and putting them on my google drawing. In my opinion, I think it turned out AMAZING and I loved doing this task.

My Christmas Wreath

This is my Christmas Wreath for the Christmas countdown we have been doing in class. I worked really hard on this but I still think I could have added more into it because it doesn't look the best it could be. I think it turned out ok though and I'm happy with the result, This is a redesign of a wreath that was on the Christmas count down doc and I tried to copy it as best as I could and it didn't turn out as best as I thought it would but it's still pretty good.

Appreciation letter to my Mum and Dad

This is my appreciation letter to my mum and dad it's just saying how much I love them and what they do for me. I love them so much and I'm glad and so happy they are my parents.

Survivor Blog Post

This is my blog post for the survivor we did throughout this term. The things we did for the finish of our survivor was amazing and I'm going to tell you what we did in our homerooms at each activity.

Fire: For the fire activity we had to stand in a circle while Mrs Kennedy dug out dirt from the ground. After that, we had turns in our troops to make a teepee type thing with wood because that is how you make a fire while camping. Next, each troop had to have a turn making a spark with flint. Then we had to stand around Mrs Kennedy while she tried to make a real fire but sadly the paper didn't catch on fire but we were super close one time.

Cooking: The next activity that the Brainiacs did was cooking first we had to prepare the things we were cooking which were a banana dessert and a sweet potato filled with ham and cheese they were both delicious we we ate them. After we prepared all of our food we had to wrap them in tinfoil and put them in a bag. After morning tea each of the homerooms went out after Mr Hitchman and Mr Singh cooked them to go and eat our food. First, we ate the Potato which tasted amazing than after all the homerooms ate their potato it went in the same order to eat our banana which was even better.

Scavenger hunt: For Brainicas last session we did a scavenger hunt with Miss Sowden we had to get in our troops and then Miss Sowden gave us a clip board and a piece of paper that we had to write letters on. Then she sent different groups out to find the letters, my troop only found 3 letters but then after if we didn't get all the letters she wrote them down on the board. The right answer for the unscrammbling word thing was BURRITOS and my troop got the right answer for that.

I loved all the activity's throughout the term and im glad we did it because it was so much fun.

T4 Fabulous Finish WK 6/7

This is my Fabulous Finish for the end of the year. I tried really hard to make this perfect because it was really hard since I was sick for a couple of days and I was behind, but I caught up and got it finished in the nick of time. I wish I had more time and if I did I would have made it better than it is and I would have added more detail into it. Other than that I think I have done very well and I am proud of myself. My Fabulous Finish is a character description about Ghost and how his life went from when he was little to when he was on the track team, it also shows how I think the book was and just saying it was Amazing. I think I did really well and I'm proud of what I have come out with.

What to do when you are stuck in the Bush?

• This is what S.T.O.P Means You have to Stop, Think, Observe and Plan.

Finding fresh water

• Water that is moving

• Water that has been in the sun

• Boiled water.

These are some of the best options when you are trying to find freshwater when camping.

Shelter.

You will need Shelter that isn't too close to water.

• A shelter that is off the ground.

• A shelter that covers your body.

These Are Shelter tips that will help you survive when you

are camping.

• Fire
  Use Dry Sticks or driftwood

• Keep it contained

• Don't make it close to water.

These are Fire Tips so you can keep your fire going all night

when you are out camping or in the wild.

• Basic first aid
  Plasters

• Bandages

• Different types of creams that can help your cuts or sores.

These first aid things are some things that you should pack

before you go camping or before you go out in the forest.

• Signalling for Help

• Make a fire and let the smoke rise

• Whilst as loud as you can until someone hears you

• Get an empty bottle and write a note then send it down a river or stream so someone can find you and know where you are.

These are different ways to signal for help when you are stuck or stranded on an island.

WK 5 T4 CC Digital Design

This week for Chapter Chat I did Digital Design. I loved doing this task so much because I went back and did a Storyboard task from last week. It was really fun doing the task and creating the different scenes from the book, I enjoyed reading the book and I think it was really amazing in my opinion. I think others in the class loved it aswell. I made four different scenes from the book The first one is when Ghost and his Mum Where running from his Dad and Ghost was talking and saying his name and everything, The second scene is Ghosts Mum in her hospital outfit in the hospital where she works, The thrid scene when he is new to the track team and Lu is saying like what are you doing on my track and things like that and lastly in the final scene it is when Ghost stole the shoes and even though in the story Tia doesn't come out of the store I wanted to add her in just so she was in the scenes. I loved this task and I'm happy I got it finished and on my blog in time.

Kawakawa Plant

The plant that I chose is Kawakawa because I think that this is the easiest one to do and it wouldn't wast too much of my time because I already know quite a lot about Kawakawa. Some of the different names for Kawakawa is Piper excelsum or Macropiper excelsum. Those are some more names for Kawakawa it took me a while to find more names for kawakawa because kawakawa is actually a nickname as well so it was a little bit hard. you might find the kawakawa plant is between the north island and the upper south island. Kawakawa plants and other plants can grow up to 6meters. Humans can use Kawakawa for lip balm, bruises, little cuts, scabs and way more. I will put in some photos of what Kawakawa looks like and how natural and majestic it looks. 

The Overhand Knot

This is my Overhand knot. I think that it was easy to get used to because it was a super easy and quick knot. I think that this knot could be used for tying things together and keeping things safe.
I rate this knot a 10/10 because it's really easy to learn and quick and easy to do.

My Alpine Butterfly Knot

This is my Alpine Butterfly Knot I think that this was pretty hard to do but once I got used to it, it was easy. I think that the hardest part of this knot was making it tighter or getting the big loop under the little loop because it kept coming undone and it didn't work out. I rate this knot a 7 or 8 out of 10 because it was hard learning it but it is super easy once you start doing it. I think that this knot could be used for towing cars maybe or keeping things in place.

My Bowline Knot

This is my Bowline knot. Lola had to help me a bit with this knot because it was really hard and I couldn't understand how to do it right away but after Lola taught me I got it straight away. I enjoyed doing this knot because it was challenging for me and I like doing challenges because it pushes me out of my comfort zone. I think that the most challenging thing about this knot was learning how to do it because it was hard at the start. I rate it a 5/10 because it was hard but once you get used to it gets easier. This knot could be used for pulling heavy things and sailing a small craft.

Chapter Chat Wk4 T4 Creation Station

This week for Chapter Chat I did Creation Station. I enjoyed doing this weeks task because it made me get out of my comfort zone because I'm not that good of a drawer so I did the best I can. I drew Ghost in his running uniform because he didn't get his because Coach Brody found out he stole his new cool running shoes, I loved this task so much and I am happy I got it done with just a little bit of time. I have got it done and I can now tick it off my school to-do list.

CC T4 Week 3 Research centre

This week for Chapter Chat I did Research centre. I did a task from last week that was researching about shoe brands because this week's tasks didn't interest me that much, I enjoyed doing this task and I could have done more brands but I didn't have that much time to research them and do my school work at the same time. I am just glad that I got it done in the nick of time. I am happy with this result and I am excited to do my Chapter Chat next week.

Building our tents

Today all the survivor troops competed in this challenge where we had to set up a tent and work as a group to get it done my group is called The Moas. The hardest part was getting the polls through the tent and getting them to stay together and not slip apart. What worked well for me was putting the pegs down in the ground and making the tent sit upright. What I learned is that you need to work in a team to get things done right and quickly.     

Our Plan for our Shelter

                   Number 1. The Tarp: We have chosen this one because it looks like it would provide lots of warmth and it seems like it has lots of room. It also looks like it’s very sturdy and that would help us survive the night. The only con is that the ropes might slip down during the night.

  

Number 2. The A-Frame Tarp Shelter: We have chosen this one because it looks like it would be simple to make and it is nice and easy and it looks like it would keep you safe from the wind and any kind of weather there is. It also looks like it would stay up through really harsh wether making the rope looking like it’s there to stay.

Where is the best place to build a shelter?

The best place to build a shelter is on a flat surface that is not damp and that is preferably close to some water so you can get a drink.

What does the shelter need to protect you from?

Shelter needs to protect you from the wind, snow, rain, insects or water that is really close by. You need to protect your self from these things because it can lead to death if you get way too cold or you can starve/dehydrate.

              What materials could you use to build a shelter?

Some materials that you could use to build a perfect shelter is A tarp, Sticks, A trees and some rope, I say these things just to keep you extra safe and Warm.

What are some pros and cons of sleeping in a bush shelter?
Some Pros of sleeping in a bush shelter or camping is to keep yourself safe and dry so you keep your body heat in and you get to look up at the sky at night and see all the beautiful stars. A con with sleeping in a bush shelter is that you could get a bunch on mosquito bites and the weather could be really really bad and you could get badly sick.

CC T4 W2 Away with words

This is my Week 2 Chapter Chat, for this week I did A way with words. I really liked this task because it made me push myself to really think what Ghost would say to his grandparents about these new shoes that he wants for track. I really enjoyed it and it was super fun and I love how it turned out I really love it. I worked really hard to get this finished and I finished in time thankfully. The shoes that Ghost wanted was silver track shoes because people at his school would laugh at him because he cut down his hi-tops so he could run better in track but he didn't so he stole the shoes he wanted. I am proud of my task for this week and I am happy I got it finished.

My 2019 Calendar Art

This is my Calendar Art for 2019. I think that it turned out pretty good and I am happy with the finishing result, I really tried my best in my calendar art but it is my first one being in whetu. I really like it but next year I know I can add more detail. In my art, it shows my hair going crazy and me showing the expression like what do I do, I tried hard to get my hair perfect even though it didn't turn out as I expected I still think I did really well. I did as best as I could since it's my first year in whetu and I think I will do way better next year when I'm a year 6.

CC WK1 T4 Digital Design

This is my Chapter Chat for Week 1 of Term 4, I did Digital Design. I really enjoyed doing this task for my first week back at school and I am glad I got it finished in time, It was a little bit hard but I got it done and I am happy with it. The first card is for Coach Brody's Track team because he thinks that it is the best, They are called the Defenders, but if you join the team remember you only get one chance and you are out! The second card is for his Taxi/Cab business to say how great and pleasing his rides are, just to get people to pay him for his AMAZING rides. I loved doing this task and I am happy I got it done.

School Holiday Blog Challenge

         Blog Challenge

In the holidays I went to my Big Sisters 21st birthday party on the 5th of October, I loved it so much it was so much fun and better than I thought it would be (especially since Paige set it up herself without Mum helping her) 

After everybody arrived we had speeches The whole Family had to go up to the front of the Kerepehi Hall and Say a Speech, I didn't say anything but now that I think of it I have something to say but never mind now.

Then We Sat down with all the cousins, Auntys and Uncles before we had dinner, After dinner, we had dessert it was ice cream (that my Mum made at her work) with a bunch of toppings like Hundreds and thousands, chocolate sprinkles, nuts and marshmallows etc it was super yummy.

At the party, there was probably 200-300 people there but most of them were outside, me and my cousins had glow sticks then we went outside to give Paige and her friend some but that was ok because we had heaps of them.

we had to take photos at the photo area they had set up and we had to have a sibling photo and a bunch of separate photos aswell it was amazing.

I enjoyed myself at the party with all my cousins that I haven't seen in a long time and I hope Paige enjoyed it aswell.

         

Blog Challenge, Book Cover

I have been working on my book cover for my blog challenge, this is the first one I have done and I am proud of what I have come out with. I really tried my best for the covers to look the same as the book but in my own way. I think that my book cover came out really well and I am glad I got it done by the end of this term. I am really happy with my cover and I am glad to be sharing it.

Week 8/9 Fabulous finish CC

This past couple of weeks I was working on my Fabulous for my term 3 Chapter chat.
I loved working on my Chapter chat and I am glad I got it finished and it turned out AMAZING in my opinion. I enjoyed listening to this terms Book, Holes, and I am excited to read our next book, I did More about me on Zero and I love how it turned out.

 

Week 7 CC Digital Design

This week for Chapter Chat I did Digital Design. It was amazingly fun and I loved making the treasure chest I designed digitally. The most fun part was putting in all the coins because I tried to make it as realistic as I could. I am glad that I got it finished even though it took me a while. I like what I have come out with and how well I think I did.

Week 6 CC Creation station

This week for Chapter chat I did creation station and I made survival shoes. I loved making these shoes because it made me think about how to make this work and how I will place the things so it's not to hard to get the things that you need straight away.
I really liked this task and even though I was sick last week I got my chapter chat done this week and I am really proud of what I have created.

Week 4 CC Term 3

This week for my Chapter Chat I did Digital design and I made a wanted poster for Kate Barlow, I really liked doing my activity for this week because it was fun trying to make look perfect and good enough, I also really enjoyed making the picture on Avatar maker to make my avatar of Kate Barlow I really think that I did a great job this week on my activity and I enjoyed this week's Task.

Week 3 CC Vocab Challenge

This week for Chapter chat I did Vocab Challenge I put a lot of effort in to find out Sentences that the words can go in and finding out what the words mean but the hardest part was figuring out how I was going to present it. I enjoyed doing this Task alot and I loved presenting it on a white piece of paper with coulor sploges it was fun. I enjoyed making everything and finding out different words that I didnt know before.

Week 2 CC Away with words.

This week for chapter chat I did away with words and remade what Stanley wrote to his mum (Mom) for how he is going at Camp Green lake. It was super fun to remake and redesign the letter and I enjoyed doing it for this week's Chapter chat. I am proud of what I have created and how I have presented my letter and how I added in the little bits and piece's to make it better than before.

Week 1 Term 3 CC

This week for chapter chat for our first week back I did research centre about rattlesnakes, it was super fun and I enjoyed it a lot. The most fun thing about it was making my poster and drawing the snake and my favourite part about researching is finding out a lot of things I didn't know before about rattlesnakes, I really tried my best to put as much effort as I could into this and I really like how it turned out.

CC Fabulous finish!!!!

For week 8/9 me and Alice made a book for our fabulous finish about Shay.
We did descriptive passage and it turned out GREAT!!
We worked super hard and took out basically all of our time to work on our chapter chat.
We found out a whole bunch of information to write about Shay, and find out things all about Shay.
I think we did a really good job and that it turned out super GREAT.

Biking!!

This week on Thursday and Friday Whetu brang our bikes to school and did cycling with Paul.
It was super fun and I enjoyed it soo much. My favourite part from it was doing the box game which is a game that you play on your bikes and you ride around in a circle as Paul tells you to do things, if you put your foot down then your out and you have to get out of the circle. My least favourite part was doing the part when you had to turn around and say what colour cone he was holding up, but everything was super fun and I gave everything a go and I'm proud of myself.

Week 7 Free choice CC

This week for chapter chap I did free choice because I only have one more to do and that is for next week. For my free choice, I did digital design I started a little bit late because I did not know what I was doing yet. What I had to do was remake the book cover of the book we are reading Fish In a Tree. It was fun to do and I am proud of my work.

Week 6 CC

This week for chapter chat I did Fantastic favourite Digital design.
What I did was make a sign on my computer supporting Ally for class president, It was fun to do and I enjoyed it, But it was a little hard thinking about what I was going to say on it. It turned out end the end am I am proud of my learning.
